Review: NARUKO Taiwan Magnolia Firming Smooth Finish Cream Makeup SPF 50+++

Weight: 8g

Price: RM39

Description: This foundation provides UV rays protection and is packed with brightening and anti-aging ingredients to reverse aging process. The special camouflage particles conceals fine lines, wrinkles and imperfections for a flawless finish.

I finally bought this after eyeing it for so long after it launched some time in December 2013 or January 2014. Sorry got side tracked by Korean bb cushions (duh!). This cream makeup claims to turn from cream into powder and is a bb cream + powder hybrid. It also claims to have autocorrecting function to match your skin tone, anti UV rays, improves complexion, anti-aging, moisturises and soothes the skin.

Anyway I was surprised that I can smell the floral scent wafting in the air when I first opened the parcel. Really nice.

The pact is not very thick and feels very lightweight too. It looks very eco-like with its earthy beige cover. The pact opens to about 115 deg.  and the hinge doesn't feel really sturdy as I can somewhat twist the mirror part a bit lol.

It has a full mirror and the product directly opposite the mirror. The puff is stored in a hidden compartment below the cream. The bottom of the pact, however, has holes! I think it is meant for airing the sponge but it also allows dust to stick onto the sponge! Especially if you are going to chuck it inside your handbag like I do.

The sponge is kinda thin and wide, which doesn't really allow for good control over how you are going to apply your makeup.

Now onto the concealing power... which it has none... really. It was like I wasn't wearing anything. Feels like I'm not wearing anything too!! How can this be! Even layering cannot improve its coverage. Let me show you some before/after photos.

I wouldn't call it bb cream/foundation, more like a (really nice smelling) tinted sunscreen? The only good thing about this that I've found the nude-st base makeup product ever.

And another good thing about this is that it doesn't oil!! I've put this on and went for a long afternoon nap. (Cuz I oil the most after an afternoon nap with makeup on) To my surprise, I don't feel oily at all so it really does live up to its claim of oil control.

I wore this as a primer prior to my bb cushion and sometimes on top of my bb cushion, because it's that lightweight. As a setting product it made my face smoother to touch and made the bb cushion seem much more natural. As a primer, it made my bb cushion on top look more natural yet retains its covering+tone up function. Anyway this is really good if you pair it with a main base makeup that you use. It made my face look naturally glowing and radiant, like super goddess-like!

After using it for 1 month+, I've also noticed that it CLOGS PORES. Sigh. Although it did not cause me to breakout, I need to use this sparingly to avoid clogged pores.

Ingredients list

Packaging: 3.5/5 Kinda flimsy especially at the hinge part. The pact doesn't sit securely on top of the plate and the fact that the holes on the bottom allow for dust or whatever to stick onto your puff... although that can be rectified with good ol' cellophane or masking tape but it will not look good on the outside.

Smell: 4/5 Smells really nice and doesn't linger

Coverage: 0/5 It has literally no coverage

Texture: 4/5 It turns all creamy on my fingers and spreads easily

Oil-Control: 4.2/5 Pretty good for a cream foundation. But of course it can't beat powder for that super matte oil-free feel

Finish: 3.8/5 I actually felt really comfortable wearing this. Right after application it does look more matte. It accentuates dry flakes on my nose but thankfully didn't settle into fine lines. Also I kind felt that it darkens over time so touching up is necessary to keep your face look fresh!

Overall: 3.5/5 It is very lightweight and absorbs oil. It is more suitable as a primer or setting your base makeup. It really gives a nice finishing glow to your makeup. On its own it doesn't really cover anything and it also clogs pores. :S
