Review : Funcare Ido AC-11 Recovery Lotion 120ml

I wanted a first serum/lotion and went ahead and bought this. I had problematic skin when I first used this. Random zits and rough skin texture which was looking dull all the time.

I ended up liking the first bottle so much, I went back and bought 3 more.

The lotion feels slightly thicker than Hada Labo's Gokujyun lotion but it absorbs super fast, leaving no tacky or sticky feeling behind. The lotion helps stabilizes and strengthens my skin against recurring zits and help keeping flakes at bay. I also felt my skin is able to heal itself faster after using this.

It is not fragranced and does not irritate my skin.

In the box it came with a leaflet detailing research on their ingredient AC-11 and its efficacies. Certainly interesting. The bottle is a pump bottle which is very convenient!

Review: Purebess 100% Galactomyces Essence

Price: RM 30 for 2 bottles

I got this in March because it was selling like hotcakes and the item description on Qoo10 looks really promising. So what is galactomyces? I did some googling and it is Pitera, the main ingredient of SKII's Facial Treatment Essence.

I used this sometimes (because I just have so many things to finish) right after cleansing. The texture is just like water, except that it is a bit 涩. The essence has a very faint smell and doesn't bother me at all.

My first impression: I was highly skeptical of this, because it felt like plain water. It did not make me glow whatsoever, and I felt cheated. I really thought it was plain water with perfume, lol. Nevertheless I kept using it from time to time, just not as frequent.

I just pat this in without using cotton pads. The water does not really gets absorbed, but it is so light I didn't feel anything. I feel that it has merely disappeared(!)

Personally I find some products work well together and some doesn't. When the products work well together, even drugstore brands can give you a highly unexpected result.  I haven't find the perfect match for this, and it doesn't seem to compliment or bring down any products that I used.

Recently I have been staying up late, so my skin gets sallow and dry. I used this more and found out that it helps to reduce the sallowness of my skin. When I don't use this essence, I look like a zombie.

Verdict: I can't really comment much because I'm still very much confused about this product. I'll have to see whether it really is the miracle ingredient Pitera.

Review: Su:m 37 Secret Programming Essence

I got this from the high end Koreanskincare line haul I blogged about a few weeks ago. This was actually a gift from the seller and I got about 14 pieces of this.

I wasn't really familiar about Su:m37 and what I know about this Secret Programming Essence is that it is Korea's answer to Japan's SK II (I hope that sounds right).

This essence is the lotion type essence like SKII, but I cannot compare this to the famous SKII FTE because I've never used it before. Like always, this review is all based on my impression and thoughts on the product without any description printed / available to me.

So, what's my take on this?

I find it awesomesaucely good.

The sample sachet is in a luxurious maroon colour and screams 'LUXURIOUS' all over lol. The essence is a bit glidy, yellowish type of lotion (Asian) that makes my skin very smooth to the touch.

The smell is minimal, and I don't think they have added artificial fragrance in this. Nevertheless, I really enjoy the faint plant smell of the essence. It was oddly calming.

It wasn't sticky and it is fairly easy to absorb. My skin felt really soft. So I went ahead and put it to test.

After applying this on the back of my hand, I scrubbed and cleaned and mopped the kitchen, all without wearing gloves and the dishwasher etc had  good contact on my hands. After I was done cleaning, I washed my hands with antiseptic soap and toweled dry. I asked my sister to touch which hand was softer, and she said, your left hand.

Yes, no kidding. Even after all those harsh cleansers.

I absolutely adore this essence that I want it very bad. Alas, I still have a gazillion things to finish so this one need to wait for a while.

PS: I did try it on my face a few times and it was superb.

The good: it's really a stellar performer

The bad: super expensive (even as a sample, hah!)

Review: Eanvie Nature Snail Essence

I bought this because Mizon's Snail RecoveryGel Cream at home is used up already. So off I went to search for another snail infused moisturiser, because the previous seller is not selling Mizon anymore!  I came across this product on Qoo10 but I have never heard of the brand. It was a leap of faith (and a quest to buy cheap but good products) so let's see how it fares!

Snail essence... I've always thought essences are drippy or creamy serum-ish but this one is different. It is like a watery gel which melts right away when you rub it in. It is fairly easy to absorb and also not sticky.

The essence is heavily perfumed but thankfully not coloured, although it contains parabens.

The essence is like clear gel and does not leave a sticky residue, although the perfume lingers for quite some time.

The effects:

I've used this since about a month ago, and I'm quite satisfied with this. No breakouts, moisturises my skin etc.

If I had to choose between Mizon's SnailRecovery Gel Cream or this, I would choose Mizon's.

Why, you ask?

It did not perform as well as Mizon's gel cream. Eanvie's snail essence was okay-good, but there are several drawbacks like alcohol, perfume and parabens, whereas Mizon's did not contain any of the above mentioned ingredients. Plus, I feel that given the name "essence", it should deliver the promises and benefits that exceed normal moisturisers.

Edit (Nov 11): After using this for 3 months, I noticed this essence whitens my face wonderfully. When I used this after Purebess Galactomyces Essence, my face becomes extremely smooth and bright. This essence is very good at whitening, so if you girls/guys out there are aiming to get fairer, this one should work wonderfully.

The good: cheap, good moisturiser, maintains my skin well, easily absorbed

The bad: fragrance, alcohol, parabens
