Crazy: Making my Own CC (Correct & Care) Cream

I am leaving for another grueling 2 years at the University so I started packing my face stuff first (duh!) As you guys see, I have quite a number of bb creams at home and since I only have one face, finishing them up seems to be N years later... And if I don't use them, no one's gonna touch them at home.

Well I have these small jars at home (sample sized products) so I thought to hmm... make my own CC cream! (I am also gonna wash up my cushion BB after I've finished it, and then refill it with my other BB creams at home lol) My version of CC cream will be Correct & Care, which is somewhat a lighter BB cream with more skincare instead of normal bb creams.

I know what I like: Some coverage (to even out skin tone), very very very lightweight, and non sticky. And not smelly.

I whipped out 3 products to mix them up:

• O'slee Aqua Medi (for that refreshing, fast absorbing finish)
• 3W Clinic Intensive UV Sunblock Cream (Urmm to be a mediator for my BB cream later)
• Missha Signature Wrinkle Filler BB Cream (to even out skin tone)

and a special guest...NARUKO's Narcissus DNA Repairing Night Gelly (Just a dime size...for fun!)

The ratio is something like 2:2:1 (Oslee:3W Clinic:Missha) but I cannot be sure cuz I kinda mix it up bit by bit.

My mixer is a metal chopstick hahahah!

Review: Holika Holika Photo Ready Cushion BB SPF 50+ PA+++ #21

Cough. So I finally bought my first cushion BB. This is the third order I made to finally get my hands on one. Heh heh. The previous two are either out of stock or the seller disappeared! (I did get back my money though)

Holika Holika is a pretty girl brand I think. At least to me their packaging looks very girly and bling. It is produced by Enprani Korea, and previously had CNBLUE and SISTAR as their models. Their current model is Park Shin Hye.

So after I bought this cushion I did some research (yes, sometimes the process also works backwards) and found A LOT of reviews on Naver. I did worry because the swatches look way too fair to suit my skintone so I was on my toes waiting for my shipment to arrive....!

It did arrive after a week of placing my order. The cushion looks pretty much like a bulkier compact powder, but feels very light. The compact feels sturdy too but I wouldn't recommend dropping it though. The cover is shiny plastic in black which makes it a huge fingerprint magnet.

The puff is just nice to hold. It is called a rubycell puff and it has a really smooth, soft surface. It smelllssss good too. Hahahah!

The compact can be opened to about 120 deg. and it has a mirror which is perfect for touching up. The cushion design is nothing much to shout about, a protective cap to place your puff and underneath it is the cushion sealed with a sticker.

Now on to the swatch! The bb cream is quite thick. Not blending-friendly if you use your fingers. Reading reviews of other bb cushions made me expect the bb cream to be less viscous. It is pinkish-beige and goes on dewy on my face and feels sticky.

After 6 hours of wearing

there's still a little left after 6 hours

Now hold your horses! thankfully it settles into a powdery, satin finish. It doesn't feel sticky after settling. It oxidises pretty quickly to match my skintone and doesn't feel really heavy on my face. It doesn't settle into fine lines.

I didn't feel extra oily after 6 hours. Only minimal oiling on my nose.

I use this everyday before going to work. It saves time, doesn't make me feel itchy or yucky. I love it. Now I just need to get myself a replacement puff! :)

Packaging: 4/5 Hassle-free & lightweight. Looks sleek too.

Smell: 3.8/5 Floral. Smells like some shower gel. Nice and refreshing.

Texture: 3/5 Too thick for my liking

Finish: 3.8/5 Goes on dewy but dries semi matte. Looks very natural after a while

Cover: 4/5 Quite good

Staying power: 3/5 I'm not really sure about this. I had it on for 6 hours and there's some of it left on my face but I just don't see it? It looks like I'm not wearing any makeup after 6 hours. I think the staying power is 3-4 hours without using primer underneath

Overall: 3.7/5 Not bad. I didn't expect a lot because Holika Holika's BB cushion wasn't very popular like IOPE's Air Cushion. I quite like it. The only concern I have is the hygiene of the puff? I think this suits most skin types but not recommended for extremely oily skin.

Review: It's Skin Babyface BB Cream Moisture

Ingredients: Peach extract, Safflower extract, Apple extract, Lemon balm leaf extract

FINALLY I got this in my mail! After 2 months! -.- And the tube leaked even when it is sealed with foil. I got this in the Moisture Variant instead of the Silky one because this one is for dry skin. There's no shade difference between those two.

The packaging is so cute! I love it. It doesn't have a box and no ingredients list on the tube too. However, it is easy to carry around and fits nicely in my hand.

I applied some on the back of my hands and on 2 stars but the cream melted the ink so I guess I need to use another pen... (note the 3 gray-ish streaks on the bottom; top is after blending)

So I was pretty surprised it has a texture that I like, that is easy blending! Even better than Missha's Signature Wrinkle Filler BB cream because that one tends to drag and form a trail. Although the shade is so fair I look like a ghost... it oxidises after 30 minutes I think. Doesn't blend in with my skin tone very fast unlike other BB creams. But unlike other BB creams, this Babyface BB doesn't make me feel like I'm wearing a mask over my face.

Top- blended; 1st star- 1 layer; 2nd star- 2 layers

The coverage is pretty good for me although it did not make the annoying acne mark on the tip of my nose disappear. I forgot to take a picture right after applying but there's a picture after 12 hours wearing this.

After wearing the BB cream for 12 hours+. It pretty much melted away. 

Smell: 1/5 Very strong smell. It doesn't go away even after a while. After oxidising, it smelled a bit like burnt metal, which is not exactly a pleasant smell you'd want on your face.

Texture: 5/5 I like this one a lot

Shade: 2.5/5 Meh. Too fair on me

Finish: 4.5/5 Not dewy nor matte...Just what I wanted! Much love!

Coverage: 4/5 Buildable. But I prefer BB creams to be "my skin but better" not full on makeup so it doesn't bother me a lot

Oil Control: 4/5 Not oily at all.

Staying power: 2.5/5 Weak as my pores will show after like 3 hours wearing this? also because when I remove my makeup after 1 day, there's not much colour on the cotton pads... it must have melted I think.

Skincare benefits: 3/5 Doesn't seem to help my skin become better but also doesn't make my pores become clogged or itchy like Whoo's CC cream. It's sufficient for me.

Overall: 3.5/5 Great BB cream for a great price. Fits everything I wanted in a BB cream except that the scent is too strong and also the shade is too fair! I wish they'd make a darker shade. 

Mini Review: Etude House Precious Mineral Cotton Fit BB Cream #W13

I wanted to try Etude House's Cotton Fit BB because it has a matte finish and Etude House's Precious Minerals BB cream sells like hot cakes on Qoo10. I like the dewy finish of bb creams, but sometimes when it is hot and humid and your face gets oily to the point that the dewiness becomes uncomfortable, I'd been wanting something that is not dewy nor matte (something in between), doesn't accentuate fine lines, and doesn't clog pores.

I have a sample sachet of this one and the Bright Fit one so today I went ahead and tested the cotton fit one.

Please bear in mind that I have dry skin, so this is review might not be accurate for oily skin guys/gals.

Colour: 3.8/5 The colour looks really orange to me because other bb creams I have used either have pink undertones or neutral colours. After blending and settling it looks pretty natural and matches my skin tone.

Smell: 3/5 Slight floral smell. 

Blending: 2.5/5 Consistency is quite thick so it is pretty hard to spread on my dry skin. I would say it needs a sponge or brush to nicely paint it on your face.

Finish: 3.5/5 Matte, sinks into fine lines around my eyes.

Coverage: 4/5 Pretty good for those with fewer blemishes

Staying power: 4.5/5 Good. Went to the beach in the morning and still pretty much intact after 9 hours.

Oil control: 3.8/5 I think it is okay- good. Not much oil except on my nose and cheeks

Mini Review: Missha Signature Wrinkle Filler BB Cream in No 21 [Sample]

This is a mini review of a sample sachet I got from one of my purchases from Qoo10. I finally got to use it when I travelled to Bangkok a few days ago.

I am on the fence on BB creams and personally I think that there are too many tinted products camouflaging as "BB creams", when they neither have skin improving ingredients nor function.

So this Missha's BB Cream is pretty expensive and touted as one of their star products so let's check it out!

*note that I wore this on its own, without base/powder whatsoever.

Texture: Light and easy to blend/spread

Blending: Easy to spread on skin, however the colour does not match my skintone

Finish: Dewy

Effect: Really smoothes out my complexion! I love how it doesn't look cakey on my nose.

Waterproof: No

Staying Power: Hmm. Maybe 3 hours before slipping off bit by bit? But it actually stayed on pretty well to me, because I walked outside in Bangkok for the whole day.

Oiliness: It didn't feel too oily to me, it was just nice as I have dry skin. I tried wearing this in an air-cond room on a separate occasion and I felt my skin turned shiny in 4-5 hours. So nope, not for oily skin.

I actually saw improvement in my skin after using this! Previously my skin look mellow, but this BB cream actually helped making my skin look healthier just after 2 uses. How good is that?

The good: Doesnt accentuate my dry spots, good healing properties, doesn't sink into fine lines

The bad: Not for oily skin, on the pricey side
